Why Minneapolis Needs More Women and BIPOC Electricians

Hey y’all. Did you know only about 2 percent of electricians are women, and nearly 80 percent are white? That’s wild, especially in a city like Minneapolis and the Twin Cities, where we value equity, access, and opportunity for all.

Minneapolis Climate Action is stepping up to shift that. Their electrical training program is open to everyone but especially focuses on women and people of color who want to break into the trades. It’s part of their bigger mission around green workforce training Minneapolis, clean energy jobs Twin Cities, and sustainable careers Minnesota.

So what do you actually get? You’ll train in real electrical labs, learn from pros like IBEW Local 292, and get set up for jobs in solar PV training, weatherization certification Minneapolis, and more.
